ABOUT
US
As this year began, many
of us were dreaming, making
plans, and setting goals
for all the various things
we would like to accomplish
this year. ‘Resolutions’
are what these promises
to ourselves are called.
Some have a resolve to
lose weight. Some resolve
to get out of debt. The
list goes on. There is
however, a greater resolve
that each of us as children
of God should have. This
resolve is that same resolve
which we find written
by the Apostle Paul in
the First Letter to the
Corinthians, chapter 9,
verses 19-23.
In short, Paul
has resolved himself to make
reaching the lost his primary
goal. Look at what he says:
“ I have become all things
to all men that I might by
all means save some”. Paul
knew that no matter what else
he may have accomplished,
if he was not being a witness
for Christ, reaching out to
the left-out, the left-off,
and the left behind, his life
for Christ would be short
of God’s expectations. That
is why the Progressive Baptist
Church Family has this as
its Annual Theme for this
year of 2002 ‘By All Means,
Save Some’. Our challenge
is to evaluate all that we
do, and make certain that
these things not only edify
the body, but lead some to
the salvation that can only
be found in Christ (Romans
6:23).
Therefore,
our songs should help point
someone to the Savior. Our
Mission work should display
the Master compassion. Our
Worship should adore the one
Isaiah calls “Wonderful”.
The preaching and teaching
should help one turn to the
Prince of Peace. ‘By all means’.
This is our ‘Resolve’. Come
